原詩

Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love

Which alters when it alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove:

Oh no! it is an ever-fixed mark,

That looks on tempests and is never shaken;

It is the star to every wandering bark,

Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks

Within his bending sickle's compass come;

Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,

But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,

I never wit, nor no man ever loved.

第一次聽到這首詩是在李安導演的"理性與感性"中，今天上文學作品讀法又再次讀到這首詩，整個電影畫面就出現在眼前。

在年輕多金的威勒比如英雄救美般和瑪麗安的邂逅後，以極富感情的語調背出瑪麗安最愛的這一首詩，也因此讓瑪麗安愛上這位年輕多金又瀟灑風流的才子。

之後當他變心，瑪麗安得知事實後，一個人在狂風暴雨中的草原凝望著威勒比的住處，也喃喃唸出這首詩的片段。詩中景像整個呼應電影畫面和瑪麗安內心的風暴。

記得電影版本的翻譯還不俗，有興趣的可以去把片子借回去看看，電影也是很好看的。

簡言之，這首詩強調的就是愛情的堅貞和永恆，而會變的愛不會是愛。
